We want everyone to be able to use Kite. This page says honestly what works today, what doesn’t yet, and how to reach us if something gets in your way.
Kite for iPhone and iPad
- VoiceOver: Kite’s buttons, switches and lists have spoken labels, including the Deck, the Screen tab’s controls, Files, Settings and the setup steps.
- Larger text: most of Kite’s text follows the text size you choose in Settings › Accessibility › Display & Text Size.
- Reduce motion: when it’s on, Kite drops its sliding and scaling animations.
- Keyboard and pointer: a hardware keyboard types onto your computer, and on iPad a mouse or trackpad moves your computer’s pointer directly.
- Siri, Shortcuts, widgets and Control Center can run your shortcuts without touching the screen, once you turn that on in Kite’s Settings.
Kite for Mac
- Kite’s window and menu work with VoiceOver and with the keyboard (Tab moves between controls).
- The six-digit code you compare when adding a phone is shown large, and is also read by VoiceOver.
The website
- Pictures have text descriptions, pages work at any zoom level, and animations stop when your device asks for reduced motion.
What doesn’t work yet
- Your computer’s screen in the Screen tab is a live picture. VoiceOver on your iPhone can’t read what’s inside it. If you use a screen reader on your Mac, its speech isn’t sent to your phone (but your Mac’s sound is, if you turn on Sound).
- The home camera needs sight to watch and hearing to listen; Talk lets you speak through your Mac.
- A few labels use fixed sizes and don’t grow with larger text.
Tell us
If something in Kite is hard to use with your setup, please email support@kiteremote.com and tell us what you use (for example VoiceOver, Switch Control or larger text). We read every message and answer, and fixing these is a priority.
